BOWLING.
Another match for the Nye Ferns was played yesterday afternoon, the holders, Nye’*s rink, which had sustained five, challenges, suffered defeat by a margin of nine points. The first half of the game was very even, but -in the second half the challengers gradually drew away, and a live on the seventeenth head made the •holders’ chance almost hopeless. The teams and scores were:— Challengers. Holders. M. H. Walker Stewart Hawke Bryant • F, Whibley Christie Mandl (s) 20 Nye (s)’ 11 * t , A general meeting of members of the Club and croquet players was held last night to consider steps to he taken to improve the ero'quet lawns. The president (Mr Nye) occupied the chair. After some discussion, it was decided to make one lawn, 100 ft. long, on the same .level as the lower lawn, and the following committee was set up to have the work carried out: —Messrs Nye, D. Whibley, Lumsden, E. Walker, Woods, Hawke, and F. Whibley. It was, decided to keep the green open while the weather is favourable, but on days set'aside by the above committee as working days no play will be allowed on the green. . The first working bee will be held next Wednesday, commencing at 10 a.m., Avhen it is hoped a large number will roll up.
