WEDDING AT SHANNON.
BOVIS—LAURVIG. A very pretty, wedding took placet in the Presbyterian Church, Shannon, yesterday, the contracting’parties being Mr J. T. Bovis, town clerk of Shannon, and Miss Laurvig, only daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Laurvig, old and respected residents of Shannon. When the ceremony took place the church was crowded, both the bride and groom being deservedly popular. The bride was attired in a dress of brocaded crepe de chene, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She was attended by Miss Dunford, of Makino, and Miss Bovis, niece of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids, who wore dresses of brocaded voile. The bridegroom, who is a returned soldier, had Mr Gardiner, also a returned soldier, as best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. H. Bredin, of Foxton. After the signing of the register’, the bride was made the recipient of a presentation of a silver tea and coffee service from the congregation of the Shannon Presbyterian Church, in connection with which she has occupied the position of organist for many years. The wedding breakfast was held in the hail, when a very large number of guests were present, and the usual toasts were honoured. Mr and Mrs Bovis left by the afternoon train for the north, where the honeymoon is to be spent, after which they will take up their residence in Shannon.
