LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTION.
VERY LITTLE INTEREST EVINCED. SITTING COMMITTEE REELECTED. Very little interest was evinced in the election held on Tuesday to elect a Licensing Committee for the Otald District. Six candidates were nominated for the five seats, all the sitting members offering themselves for re-election. Mr W. Murdoch, Mayor of Shannon, was the, other candidate. Only between 400 and 500 electors took the trouble to record their votes. In one polling booth one vole only was recorded, in" another the voters totalled two, and in several the number who voted did not exceed a dozen. In Foxton only 94 votes were. cast. Tho sitting members were all re-elected. The following are the details of the polling:—:
