MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
DISTRICT APPEALS. The First Wellington Military Service Board commenced a sitting at Palmerston North this week, when the following district cases were dealt with;— The following appellants failed .to appear, and their appeals were dismissed; William Cooper, carter, Fox ton; John Loe, paddoekcr, Tokomaru; John Alfred Nelson, Jlaxmill hand, Koputaroa. The adjourned appeal of Robert, Charles Collins, farmer, Shannon, was further adjourned sine die. Alfred Evans, farmer, of Foxton, asked for exemption until the end of the present year. He said that of his four brothers, three were already at the front. —Further hearing adjourned until June next. Ernest William Hindrup, farm hand, Foxton, had his appeal previously adjourned to ascertain what separation allowance would be made his wife and family. The chairman said 21s per week and 18s for the children, a total of £ll9s, would bo granted. Appellant could also make a further allowance from his own' pay. Appellant to receive leave till June 25th.
