HARVEST LABOUR.

SUPPLY GREAITER THAN DEMAND. Before harvesting commenced there was some doubt as to whether the necessary labour would be available. Reports now indicate that the supply of men is greater than the demand. The experience of the Department of Labour is that, after having brought to the notice of farmers that the Department would endeavour to supply labour, it is now unable to place all the men who are willing to work. In Auckland there is a surplus of labour, both ordinary and volunteer, and in other places also there is little indication of a shortage.
