FLAXMILLS EMPLOYEES' UNION.

The above Union elects its secretary annually. Mr P. T. Robinson has been elected and re-elected at the annual meetings for some years without opposition. At the annual meeting of the Union to be held shortly the secretarial position will be contested. At the request of a large number of employees, Mr A. Galbraith has been induced to become a candidate for the position, and will address the local flaxworkers in the Good Templar Hall tomorrow night, in support of his candidature, and will talk on union matters generally. Mr Galbraith has taken a keen interest in industrial unionism, and was vice-chairman for the Thorndon branch of railway servants for two years, chairman of the Westport branch for three years, and was on the executive of the Napier branch for three years. He left the railway service to go tlaxeutting, and was instrumental in settling the trouble at Seifert’s mill recently. He is a New Zealander, and was well-known in the held of athletics as a member of the Wellington Rowing Club, and is an cx-New Zealand pairs champion. Ho was associated in rowing with Caiman and the Spencer brothers. In football he was one of Poneke’s first-grade men. He is held in high esteem by the llaxmill workers.
