“AN OUT AND OUT SHIRKER”
THREE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT. “This man is an out and out shirker,” said Senior-Sergeant McNamara, Avhen Frederick Wilson, a young single man, admitted failure to enrol in the reserve, before Mr F. V. Frazer, S.M., in the Auckland Police Court. Continuing, the senior-sergeant said the man came to Auckland a- } bout three months ago, and when the police started to question men regarding their enrolment, he told the constable Avho spoke to him that he AA’ould produce his certificate the next day, HoAvever, he left Auckland, and did not return until Thursday evening, and when the constable who had seen him before questioned him he said he supposed he “avoußl get three months," but he preferred that to going to the front, and perhaps coming back minus a limb. In sentencing accused to three months’ imprisonment, the magistrate said the military authorities could get him if they AA’anted him.
