SEPTEMBER WORKING. The ammini of ga.-- manufactured at Dm local works during 1 lie month of Sep,(ember was 429,500 ft., which, with the amount in Die holder on September Ist, 4,000 ft., made a total ot -133,500 l'|. 'the amount siOd to consumers for lighting was .176,900 ft., tor cooking and healing 109,300 ft,, ami for power 73,000 ft., .19,400 ft. was ciiii - limed iu I lie streel lamps, and 22,<7)0 ft. at Die works and the manager's house, ami (here was 5,500 it. in Die holder on October Ist, leaving 26,900 ft. unaccounted for. Thirty-nine I mis three cwt. of coal was carbonised, yielding .10,960 ft. per lon. .MANAGER'S REPORT. The ga.s works manager reported as follows at Monday night's Council meeting:—The amount of gas umnalV.c fared for the month of September shows a slight decrease as against Die corresponding month of last year. The conlvaeior is making good progress with (he plastering of the concrete well, and with lino weather should have it completed in about a-week. I have increased the stock of coal in the yard as a stand-by, which I think is advisable. During the month I connected two new gas stoves, ami cleared water from main in Putter Street. As soon as the weather lakes up I intend to paint the gas holder that is in use, and also part of the condensers and scrubber. The carbonising plant is working satisfactorily.
