The friends of Mr Andrew Jonson, one of our oldest residents, will regret to learn that he is seriously ill. Mr 11. Grc'g, who is an inmate of Nurse Baker's private hospital in New Plymouth, is progressing satisfactorily. Mr J. Holmes, relieving post master, is in charge of the local post office, during (lie absence of Mr A. Hawke, who is on annual leave. Mr C. Spring, an old resident of this district, who left here some time ago for Waitara, has again takyu up his residence in Foxton. Ne\\> has been received of the death in Fram-e of Private Augustus' Rockstrov;, second sou of the late Dr. and Mrs Rockstrow, of Palmerston. ■ Mr William Blondcll, an old resident of Southland, passfu] away at Invercargill at the advanced age of 78. Deceased leaves . a wife, six sons and three daughters, the latter including Mrs A. Seifert, of Palmerston North. Dr. Spencer F. Beard, who had been practising his profession in Mastertou and Pahiatua for a number of years, died at Masterton yesterday, after a protracted illness. He leaves a widow and three daughters. The late Dr Beard was well-known locally, having attended to Dr. Mandl’s practice during his absence on several occasions.
