DAY OF PRAYER.
The Mayor has received the folloAving telegram from the Minister for Internal Affairs: —“I have to advise you that in accordance Avith requests received, the Government has resolved that Sunday, October 7th, shall be set 'apart as a day of national prayer in connection Avith the Avar, In this connection ! desire to point out that Avhilst the various churches Avill hold their services at the usual hour, it is also considered desirable that there should be in each city and toAvn Avlierover possible a united sei’A'ico at Avhich all creeds can assemble for prayer and unitedly make supplication to the God of our Fathers for the Divine blessing upon Britain and her brave Allies in the war. May I therefore respectfully suggest (hat you should invito the clergy of (lie ehnndies in your eiiy or toAvn to meet you and seek their eo-opera-lion in the direction indicated. —G. W. Russell.’'’
