MOUTOA NOTES.
(Own Correspondent).. Hove's a story from Shannon. A married man there was taken to camp. He refused to wear the uniform, so, of eourse, his wife draws no pay for herself or the two children, and is in a had way. The owner of the house walks round every week' for the renl, with no result. Last week the owners patience was exhausted, and she hurst forth: “Indeed, Mrs , I think Mr Massey was quite right to take away your husband.” “Oh, indeed, do you?” replied Mrs . “Well, I lien, Mr-Massey can pay (he rent !” They toll me the tenant cannot he put out. Ms 1 Lovis is picked an easy winner for the position of Town 'Clerk in Shannon. They are trying to arrange rooms for the Town Clerk at present occupied hy Whitanmd, Ltd., over the Thank of New Zealand. Mr Hennessy seems to he very popular for the position of Shannon's iirst Mayor. The general opinion around here seems to be .that Shannon is very lucky to have such a good practical man to put up.
