PATRIOTIC SHOP.

Mesdamos Alex, Ross and I<\ Procter were in charge of the Patriotic Shop on Saturday last, and good business was done. The correct weigh! of the pig presented by Alv (leu. Mishin was 381 lbs., and was guessed hy three persons, who divided the spoil. Mr H. J. Thompson guessed the length of a blade of llax, 7fl. 2 : ; ins., and won a tin of biscuits, while Mr \V. E. Bullard won the rooster.

Thompson. Next Saturday a speeial effort will bo made to raise funds for the Christinas parcels fund for “(he boys’’ at the front, and Mrs James Robinson will have charge of operations. Every soldier will receive a parcel, and five shillings will provide one containing a Christmas pudding, cigarettes, chocolate, soap, and other articles, and every person subscribing 5s will have his or her name written on a card and enclosed in the parcel, so that the soldier will know to whom, to acknowledge receipt. Mrs J. P. Luke, the Mayoress of; Wellington, is expected to visit Foxton shortly on a Christmas parcels campaign, and the proceeds of the shop for next Saturday will be handed to her.
