THE KING AND QUEEN.
FORTNIGHT’S VISIT TO FRANCE London, July 15. Official: The King and Queen have arrived, after spending a fortnight in France and Belgium. Accompanied by the Prince of Wales, they visited Sir Douglas Haig’s’ headquarters, all the headquarters of’the armies, and the lines of communication. The Queen visited a large number of hospitals and institutions in the communication areas. Their Majesties visited the King and Queen of the Belgians. THE KING’S MESSAGE. London, July loth. The King lias issued a special Order, in which be says; “At the conclusion of my fourth visit to the British armies in the held. I leave with feelings of admiration and gratitude for their past achievements, and of confidence in their future efforts. I have witnessed on all sides the scones of your triumphs. The batllclields of the Somme, the Alien', Arras, Vi my, and Messines have shown me what great results can be obtained by the courage and devotion of all arms and services under efficient commanders and staffs. “Your comrades, the men and women of the home iuduslrial army, claim your remembrance of their untiring service in helping you to meet the enemy on terms not merely equal but daily improving. Il is a great pleasure to the Queen to accompany me and to become personally acquainted with the excellent arrangements for the care of the sick and wounded, whose welfare is ever close to her heart. "The armies of the Empire and (be workers of the Homeland for (he past three years have risen superior to every difliculty and trial. The splendid successes already gained in co-operation with our gallant Allies has advanced us well towards (he completion of I he task- we undertook. "No doubt (here is a fierce struggle to come, and heavy strains on our endurance to be bourne. But spirit and pluck lias brought you so far, and will never (ail. Under God’s guidance, final and complete vielory for our just cause is assured.”
