ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Nelson, Yesterday, Charles Hockey, a resident of Takaka, was found dead in a ditch at Richmond yesterday. Deceased was last seen endeavouring to mount his horse. - Dunedin, July 8. "William Ritchie, master of the Rise and Shine No 1 dredge, met with a serious accident on Wednesday. While he was engaged in repair work, a block carrying a heavy strain carried away and struck him on the top of the head, rendering him unconscious. He died in Cromwell Hospital to-day % Hastings,. Yesterday. A roadman’s whare at Tumunui was destroyed by fire. Unidentified remains, believed to be those of a roadman named Matthew Regan, have been discovered in the debris.
