MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
DISTRICT CASES. The following district cases were dealt with at the silting of the Military Service Appeal Board at Palmerston -North yesterday: — A QUESTION OF ALLOWANCE. James Dean head Aitken, school teacher, Foxton, applied for a rehearing, having previously been granted leave till July 24th. Appellant said the financial assistance already granted would bring up the monthly allowance loft to his wife to £8 13s, which he did not consider sufficient. Decision was reserved. A SHANNON CASE. William Slay.tor Gardiner, farmer, Shannon, applied for a re-hear-ing of his appeal on the grounds of his mother’s and sister’s ill-health. He was supporting them, and working a small dairy farm. Philip J. Hennessy, farmer, Shannon, gave evidence on behalf of appellant. Appellant was the only male assistance they had on the farm. One brother had been killed and another was on active service.. Decision was reserved. DECISIONS. Samuel Cox, labourer, Foxton, was granted two months’ leave. The appeal of H. H. Podmore, labourer, Foxton, was dismissed, there being no appearance of appellant.
