This Avork is nearly completed, and it is then proposed lo proceed with the metalling of I he streets decided upon by the Works Commit lee. .Alain Street will require another coat of tar from the AVharf Street corner southwards, and 1 would suggest (hal ibis he done as soon as time peraiils. As (here is hoav a fair supply of tar al the gasworks (approximately 2,00(1 gallons), 1 would suggest that the road staff be tillowed to asphalt the footpaths tilready authorised by the Council, viz., Liddel Street, RavensAvorth Place and Park Street. I Avould ask the Council to decide vGiether the asphalt shall be laid the full width of the footpaths referred to, or in a strip six feet wide next to the kerhing. The latter method has the advantage of allowing a much grottier length of footpath being done Avilh the same expenditure, but it also litis its disadvantages.” —The report Avas adopted, with the exception of that purl ion referring to asphalting the footpaths.
