GOODS TRAFFIC ON THE RAILWAYS.
EMBARGO TO RE REMOVED,
On enquiry <il llio liailway Hep;il'!meat yesterday morning, n Host reporter wns informed tlnil it is intended to remove the embargo now placed njmii goods traffic on .Mondny next, provided that no further difficulty occurs in respect to coni supplies in the meantime. it is anticipated that business Jirms will have accumulated, considerable orders during the time the restrictions have been in operation, and to minimise the difficulty of dealing' with these orders and to prevent congestion of trathe at railway stations, the Department desires to impress upon business houses the desirability of sending their traflie to the stations gradually, instead of rushing it there in one or two days, a> the latter course would cause serious congestion in the despatch and delivery of goods. Although the embargo on goods trallic is being removed, the restricted train service will remain in operation, as the necessity for preserving coal stocks still exists, and in addition there is the fact that the railway staff has been heavily depleted by enlistments, and that there would undoubtedly be great difficulty in the way of handling immediately the traffic that has accumulated during the period that the embargo has been placed upon business owing to the coal difficulty.
