DEPARTURE OF THE REV FATHER CRONIN.
it will come as a surprise to the local public, other than the members of St. Mary's Church, to learn that ihe Rev. Father Cronin has been transferred to Feihling, for which town he took his departure jo-day. After the morning sendee at Ft. Alary's lasi Sunday, the departing priest was presented with a purse of soA'ereigns by his parishioners as a mark of their esteem. The presentation was made by Mr P. C. Jackson, who referred lo Ihe regret all fell at die Bev. Father Cronin’s removal. Since his arrival in Foxton, nearly three years ago. he had won tin* heart- of all hi- peoph-, hut ins ministrations and kindly sympathy and advice would long he remembered. He would carry away with him die kindest thoughts and good wishes of all in die parish.
The Rev. Father Cronin feelingly responded, and acknowledged their many kindnesses, and be.-to wed his hle.-sing ii [ion them all, and bespoke iheir sympathy and loyalty on behalf of ids successor.

Father Cronin, with whom we hnd a fairly close friendship, ilis acts of Christian charily were not confined only to his own people. Never a ea.-e of distress or suffering brought under his notice hut received Ids whole-hearted assist a nee and sympathy. While his loyally and devotion to his Church was an example to all. yet lie was no bigot, and his large sympathetic mil urc responded to appeals from all deserving sources, lie was beloved by his people, and held in high esteem by townspeople.
