FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
The Patriotic Shop was open as usual last Saturday, under the charge of Mesdames A. J. Gibbs and Jennings. The takings were (he largest for some considerable time, and the competitions were especially successful. A handsome cushion was put up for competition, and realised over £B, and was won by Mr S. Heta. The competition for a cake was won by Mrs M. Bari', who guessed with four others the amount of money that had been put in the cake, and won on the draw. Gifts are gratefully acknowledged from the following:—Mesdames F. Robinson, G. Hughes, Edlin, Jas. Robinson, Woods, Brewer, Kellow, John Robinson, Chas. Robinson, Kennedy, F. de Bidder, A. Speirs, Miss Ross, Messrs Greig. Martin, Chas. Clarke, L. Gibbs, W. Nye, G. Honore, F. C. Raikes, Woodham and Bowe. >■ N'ext Saturday Mesdames McMurray and Renton will take charge, and a further supply of Mo- yf tueka apples will be on sale, and competitions are being arranged. The March meeting of the Patriotic Society will be held at the Council Chamber on Thursday evening next, at 7.30 o’clock, when important business will be transacted.
