A CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Sir. —Li X’e James G. Aitcheson’s challenge, appearing in Saturday’s issue to any all-round man, I desire to respectfully accept same on the following all-round lines:— 75 yards to 220 yards flat race; 120 yards hurdles ; half-mile bicycle race ; shooting on rifle range, any distance ; boxing, any number of rounds challenger desires to specify; two unbroken horses to be yarded, catch, saddle and ride; wrestling, catch-us-catch-can or Cumberland; horse and man combined in any competition; shovelling three yards metal or coal; 50 yds: swimming; walking any distance; wood-chopping, underhand or standing, from 9-inch block to 2ft. block; or any other competition not specified for all-round man. If this challenge is accepted, for which I will allow challenger reasonable time, any money accruing - from same to be devoted to patriotic funds. —Yours, etc., E. INGRAM. [TO the Editor.] Sir. —Seeing Mr Aiteheson’s challenge inserted in your previous issue of the paper, I, the undersigned, beg to submit the following items for competition, the amount to be decided between us: —Ploughing, digging post holes, draining, scrubcutting, shearing, hedge trimming, pick and shovel work, milking cows. The winner of the various competitions to hand proceeds to Patriotic Funds. —I am, etc.,
