BOWLING.
The weather conditions were guud for the Manawatu Centre annual tournament, which was held on Monday and Tuesday, on the Feilding green. The green was in perfect order, but a gusty wind made it somewhat tricky. TAvelve rinks took part, and some very interesting games were played. Among the players was Mr J. R. Stansell, of Lyall Bay, who presented a very fine shield for competition in memory of his son, the late Major Stansell, who was killed in France. Two Foxton rinks took part in the tournament, Large, Hooker, Rimmer, Hislop (s), and Smith, Admore, F. Whibley, Nye (s). Hislop’s rink Avon three games, and Nye’s rink notched only one win, and that by default from Pahiatua.
The following are (he teams and results of games in which the Foxton players took part, Foxton’s score being mentioned first in each case, the first games being with Hislop’s rink , and the remaining four with Nye:—
The tournament was played in (avo sections. Saywell Avon all fivq games in his section, and in the other section two teams, Chappell and SteAvart, both of Feilding, Avere equal. These tAvo Avill play off today, and the Avinners will play SayAvell to decide the tournament.
