GRANTED TO SHEARERS AND SLAUGHTERMEN. ’Wellington, Lasl Night. ’l'he Minister for Defence to-day forwarded authority to Mr Grayndler, secretary of the Agricultural Workers’ Union, (o apply for exemption for shearers drawn in the Military Service Ballot during (he sheering season. Similar authority was given to Mr Reardon lo act in the case of slaughtermen desiring exemption. So far about one thousand applications for exemption have been received from men drawn in the first ballot. The various boards will get to work' immediately.
