APPEALS COMING FORWARD. Monday was the last day for men who have been called up on the first ballot under the Military Service Act to post their appeals to the Commandant. Up lo then 1,000 notices of appeal had been removed from the 4,000 odd men concerned, and it is expected that a considerable number more will he received during the week. The Military Service Boards commence I heir sittings within a day or two. The Board for the Wellington District will open its sittings in Wellington at the Parliamentary Buildings on Wednesday morning. Ballot, cast's will be taken before those under Section 35.
