CLERGYMEN AND THE BALLOT.
Wellington, Nov. 2!). The Presbyterian Assembly Ims resolved in effect that, while the defence of home and principle is the duly of Christian cili/.enship from which ministers of religion are not exempt, it remains the duty of the church to consider carefully iu every instance of a minister on whom the ballot falls whether Jm may not serve the common interests by remaining at Ids work. Therefore, in each military district, a committee should lie set up to consider cases where a minister or home missionary is called Up, and make representations, if thought necessary, to the nearest Military Service Board. The Presbytery of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin were requested to appoint committees.
