REGISTRATION OF ORCHARDS.

It is notilied by advertisement that the Orchard Tax Act, 1010, is now in force, and under same there is payable a lax of one shilling per year for every acre, or part of an acre, with a minimum tax of 2s (id on any land used for the growing of fruit trees and the production ol fruit for sale, and includes any such land, notwithstanding that the fruit trees thereon may not have come into bearing.

Also, according to the regulations of the Orchard and Carden Diseases Act, of last year, every person growing one or more of the following trees, viz., apple, pear, quince, peach, nectarine, plum, cherry, apricot, nut, or citrous tree, or grape vine, is required to make application not later than 2(ith October, 1010, for the registration of the property wherein such trees are growing. Registration is free of charge. The penalty for non-re-gistration is a tine not exceeding £2O, therefore it behoves all to attend to tills matter’.
