THE VAL. TRIGGE MISSION.
The evangelistic mission which is being conducted in the Methodist Church by the Rev. Yak Triggo, continues with great. success. Splendid congregations assemble each night and are visibly stirred by the powerful addresses and passionate appeals. On Thursday evening, “Conscience” avus I he subject under discussion, and the appeal made to conscience avus f ruitful.
The "at home” for old folk bn Friday afternoon was a unique service. About 30 residents over (50 years of age assembled, some being so feeble that they had to bo conveyed by car. Each guest received a button-hole with the text attached, "At evening time it shall be light.” Mr Triggo gave a. very interesting and cheerful talk to the old folk from this verse, and they arc not likely to forget the expression of love manifested by the younger generation on Friday afternoon. Four bouquets were given, Mr Osborne securing one for being the oldest person in the gathering, he being in his 91st year. Mrs Langley another for being the oldest resident in the Foxton district (52 years) and Mrs Spoil’s another for being the oldest resident in New Zealand in the gathering, and Air and Airs Nel-
son for being the longest professing Christians. Refreshments were provided by the ladies, and the old folk seemed to enjoy (heir service most thoroughly. The greatest resnlls of the mission were secured on Sunday last. The weather was absolutely unfavourable, hut the best congregations of tin' mission were seen. The subject in the morning was “Consecration.” Alany professing Christians reconsecrated their lives to the service of (he Highest, and in the evening a number of definite decisions were made. A combined children’s service of Salvation Army and (Methodist school children took place in (he afternoon, when tiie missioner spoke clearly and simply on “My Son, give Afe Thine Heart.” During' (ho service many children of an intelligent age responded to the appeal.
The mission will close to-morrow evening, when Mr Trigge will deliver his popular lecture in the church on “The Story of a Afelbournc Athlete.”
