BOWLING.
Two weeks ago the local club held two sets of trophies —the Manawatu Ferns and the Gold Stars —but the Ferns were won by a Terrace End rink last Wednesday and yesterday Shannon were successful in taking the Gold Stars from the holders. For the first half the game was very even and after the tenth head had been played the board read nine all. From this out, however, Shannon, got ahead and kept there eventually winning by 20 points to 13. Another rink from Shannon also visited Foxton yesterday, but in this game the local team won, the scores being 21 —18. Mr Galland, on behalf of the visitors, returned thanks for the hospitable manner in which they had been treated and the president of the local club (Mr D. Whibley) congratulated the winners and expressed the hope thcU before the season closed there would be a further exchapge ot visits between the two clubs. The following are the teams Shannon- Foxton.
