FULLER’S PICTURES. “THE LION’S CUBS" The initial screening of what is undoubtedly one of the finest patriotic war dramas was shown at the Town Hall last night to a large and appreciative audience. Karl Kampf, of the German Secret Service, is instructed to steal from two French generals in London copies of despatches containing the Allies’ plan of campaign. Kampf ultimately secures the papers, and transfers them to an accomplice named Schoeberg. Billy, a boy scout, suspects Schoeberg, and steals the papers from him. The loss is discovered by the German spies, who start :n pursuit. The story is excitingly concluded with the capture by the Scouts of Kampf and Schoeberg as they are on the point of escaping in an aeroplane. The supporting items are : “The Cradle of the Australian Navy,” “The Refugee” (drama), “Italian Marble Quarries,” “Latest Gaumont Graphic” and “The Professional Scapegoat” (Vitagraph comedy). FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. An outstanding feature of the change of programme for Friday and Saturday is a story of two loves that wandered, entitled, “Children of the Sea,” in two parts. This pretty drama concerns the lives of an artist and those whom he met while on a health trip to an island. Years previously he had tnet a very pretty girl, and he had become enamoured of her, but ,she was lured away from her island home by another wanderer. She eventually, through her beauty, took to the stage for a livelihood. Her daughter, however, remained on the island, ignorant of her mother’s identity. Discovering who her mother is, she starts out to find her. The meeting between mother and daughter is not a success. The mother is repelled by her daughter’s appearance, which reminds her of her own youth, and the daughter is sickened at the dissipated mother’s looks. The end is cleverly arranged. Among the supporting items are: “A Day on the Force” (Lubin comedy), “The New Editor” (brisk Edison comedy), “The Outlaw’s Bride” (Selig drama), “His Pipe Dream” (animated cartoons), “In Danger’s Path” (exciting Kaletn melodrama), “Caught With the Goods” (comedy). MONDAY AND TUESDAY. On Monday and Tuesday next the programme will contain a stirring society drama, ‘‘On the Stroke of Five,” a powerful story of a brother’s vengeance. The concluding chapters of the play are thrilling to a degree, and the end is well thought out. Otheritems are; A laughable farce, “Lotta Coin’s Ghost” ; a highly interesting subject, “From Forest to Mill” ; a sound Lubiu comedydrama, “Mother of Pearl” ; some clever and laughable animated cartoons, “Dishing the Dardanelles” ; a drama of the lives ot fisher lolk, ‘‘A Heart of Gold”; a Vitagraph comedy-farce, featuring Flora Finch, “A Strand ot Blonde Hair” ; a favourite topical film, “The Pathe Gazette.”
