FOXTON GIRLS’ GUILD.
AC KNOWEEDG E M ENT FROM EONDON.
The Mayoress has received a copy of the following letter to Mrs Barltrop, Wellington, from the Secretary of the Red Cross Society, Eondon, acknowledging goods sent by the local Girls Guild ; “I beg to thank you for your letter of the 4th September, and at the same time to acknowledge receipt of the three cases of stores which you mention in the letter in question. These have all safely arrived. Allow me to convey to yourself and friends, and also to the members of “The Foxton Girls’ Guild,” the very grateful thanks of the British Red Cross Society and of The Older of St. John, for these generous and most welcome gifts. I can assure you that nothing helps and cheers us more, in England, than the knowledge that our kinsmen and kinswomen across the sea are working with us, and helping us in our endeavours to relieve some of the sorrow caused by this war. I can further assure you that all these gifts which you have so kindly sent to us, will be distributed at once to our hospitals, where they will help to relieve the sufferings of many a wounded man.”
