NEW ZEALAND’S BILL
Some interesting figures regarding the cost of the transports were quoted by the Minister of Defence James Allen) in the House of Representatives on Thursday night. The point was raised by Mr G. Witty, in reply to whom the Minister stated that up to the end of June the amount paid out in connection with the transports was £1,055,888, and the amount then owing was .£128,164, making a total ot £1,184.000, Mr Witty; You could have bought them for that. The Ministerl disagree with you. They could not have been bought for that, or anything like that amount. When the history of these transports comes to be written, it will be found that New Zealand has'made extraordinarily good arrangements with regard to its transports.” Mr Witty : Can you give us the names of the shipping companies and the amounts ?
