INDIFFERENT TEACHERS.
Some of the country teachers taking the correspondence course, for which there is no charge, exhibit a strange indifference to the facilities for obtaining their certificates provided by the Wanganui Education Board, judging by the report of the instructor in charge, says the Feildiug Star, Carelessness and indifference seem to be the most prominent features, and twenty teachers were reported to the Technical Committee of the Board on Wednesday. Samples of carelessness were given in the spelling —for instance, “insight for “incite,” “their” for “there,” “virlures” for “vitnes,” etc. The indifference consists in accepting the work of the course as it is sent: out, but failing to make any attempt to answer the questions set. There are only two teachers In Ibis part of the district on the black list, and as all those complained of are uncertificated, and, therefore, may have their services dispensed with at any time, it is surprising that they don’t attempt to avert such a contingency. One of the teachers concerned some time ago enclosed a love-letter by mistake to the secretary in which she expressed her adjective intention of doing nothing to ensure getting a certificate. As that seems to be the real attitude of the lady, It looks as It full oppoitunky for relaxation will be provided.
