AN APPEAL.
ON BEHALF OF LOCAL DESERVING CASE.
Some little time ago the hand of death removed liom our midst Mr Mark Griffin, in the prime of life, and deprived the widow and young family of six of their breadwinner. The case is one which should appeal to the charity of townspeople. A few local citizens discussed the circumstances in the Mayor’s room on Tuesday afternoon, and it was decided to make an appeal to the public for financial assistance on behalf of the family. Mr A, S. Easton was appointed treasurer, and the Mayor chairman of committee. It was decided to circulate subscription lists and collect sufficient to provide the family with a home. Any sum forwarded to *'• ■- office, to the Mayor, or Mr will be much appreciated and acknowledged. Foxton in the past has responded nobly and liberally in similar cases, and we feel sure that in this instance the public will again answer the call to help.
