We were waited upon this morning by a resident who complained that the cost of certain articles for iood consumption were higher iu Foxton than in other parts where the cost ot delivery was much in excess ot what obtained through the local port. He produced an invoice from a Palmerston firm showing sugar No. 1 lis 6d per 561 b bag. .solb bag of flour (Titnaru) 9s. He also complained that the price of bread locally was higher than it should be and stated that at Apiti bread was sold at gjjd the qlb loaf and this on top ot the fact that 27s 6d , per ton was charged for cartage from Feilding to Apiti, plus railway to Fielding.
