MUNICIPAL PICTURES

The programme to be screened at the above tb-morrow evening without doubt is an exceptionally attractive one. The star drama “A Woman’s Triumph” or “The' Heart of Midlothian,” is the grandest and the noblest story ever penned in English and founded on fact, bearing the supreme seal of Sir Walter Scott’s Master Skill. Reproduced in picture form by ‘‘The Famous Players ” being a master story that will never die. ” The Heart of Midlothian,” Scott’s masterpiece, was written under unique circumstances. Scott had been asked to write an epitaph for the tombstone of a girl who had just died near Edinburgh. He then learned the # story of Jeannie Deans, and was-50 impressed by it that he not only wrote the epitaph, but paid for the stone, and later wrote of this wonderful story of a woman’s devotion and truth, which has since been read and revered by millions. It is the inspiring tale of the suffering heart and noble soul of Jeannie Deans, the Scotswoman who would not tell a lie to save her sister’s life, yet walked barefoot from Scotland to London and obtained pardon for her sister from the Queen, and carried it back, arriving just in time to stop the execution. The other items of the programme are; Gaumont Graphic (topical), Life in the Philippine Islands (scenic), A Modern Samson (comic), Prairie Dogs (nature study), An Easter Lily (comic). The special programmes for Friday and Saturday will appear in next issue.

ROYAL PICTURES.

A big week in special star features is advertised to be held at the Royal this week. To-night, will be repeated the lengthy American naval drama, “Victory,” a picture sparkling with many bright scenes and pulsating With the contrary emotions of hatred and affection, treachery and loyalty. For Wednesday, another special picture treat is offered, beaded by a magnificent dramatic romance of real life, featuring Miss Ivy Close, the beautiful English picture actress. This star item, “The Lure of London,” is a tale of old London town —East and West — in which is told a heart-touching story which will demand attention and appreciation. In conjunction with this star film is an equally attractive supporting list, made up of the popular Gaumont Graphic ; a Pathe colour of educational V aln?, “Studies in Bird Life’S a scenic depicting the historic city of the Caesars, “Visions of Rome” ■ a quaint and entertaining Majestic drama, and a breezy A.K. comic. For the remainder of the week the bill o’-fare contains a great drama, “Cards,” for Thursday, and on Saturday commences the first of the unique series of Lucille Love pictures, a series extending over a period of fifteen consecutive Saturdays..
