RIFLE SHOOTING.

The shooting match held hy the local' Defence Rifle Club on Saturday created keen interest among members, eighteen taking part. The' range was a little on the -tricky side on account of the wind.

Afternoon tea was provided by lieutenant Fisher, of Fielding, to whom a vote of thanks was passed on the motion of the club’s President, Mr G. O. Barber, Two matches were fired, the members being divided into two classes. Seven shots each were fired at, ranges of 200 yds., 500 yds, and 600 yds. , The following are the scores : A Class First prize donated by Dr Mandl, second (Mr A. H. Boyes), third (Messrs Walker and Furrie), fourth (Mr G. H. Stiles).

B Class First prize donated by Mr C. F. Johnston, second (Mr Kirkley), third (Mr J. M.. Kelly), fourth (Mr A. O. Better).
