BOWLING.
The Dixon Cup match played at Otaki yesterday between Foxton (challengers) and Olaki (holders) resulted in a very easy win for the holders, the final score being : Otaki 24, Foston 10. Foxtou started off well scoring three on the first head and on the third head another three was added, the score then being 6—2. After the sixth head honours were even, seven all. From this out, however, Otaki drew away until at the lourteenth head the score read 15 —7. Foxton scored one on the fifteenth head and two on’ the sixteenth, and Otaki scored on each remaining head. On the tenth and fourteenth heads there were ties. The visitors were very hospitably entertained. The following are the teams and scores : Otaki. Foxton. F. H. Bright. D. Whibley

There was a very large attendance of both bowlers and croquet players on the local green yesterday afternoon, and notwithstanding the weather conditions those present had a very enjoyable afternoon's sport. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Healey.
Arrangements for the competitions this year are now complete and a commencement with them is to be made immediately. The following handicaps have been declared for the singles: Hislop scr, Ritntuer 3, Woods, D. Whibley, Barber, Petrie, Harvey 6, Spring 8, McColl, Nye, G. Whibley, Hopper, Hawke 9, Meyer, F. Whibley, Gardes, Bryant, Mandl Ix. Ball, Healey, Admore, Hore and Freeman 12. .
Two singles competitions will be played, one for a cup presented by Mr Golder (to be won three times, winner’s name to be engraved each year) and the other for a trophy presented by Mr Witchell.* The handicaps will be as above in both competitions. In the competition for Mr Witchell’s trophy each player will play every other player, games to be arranged as most convenient to the players concerned. In the cup competition the losers will fall out. The following is the drawing for the first round of this competition ;

Wbibley and Barbers, Meyer and Petrie 4, Mandl and Harvey 4, Hore and Spring 6, Ball and .McColi 6, Bryant and Nye 6, Healey and Hopper 6. There will also be a competition for this year’s players lor which first and second prizes will be awarded. Each player plays every other player, the games to be arranged to suit the convenience of the players.
