FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Foxton Bowling Clubjwas held in the Coronation Hall supperroom last night. There was a fair attendance of members. In the absence of the president and vice-presidents, Dr. Mandl was voted to the chair. The balance sheet for the past year was read and adopted. This disclosed a very satisfactory position. The year commenced with a bank overdraft of 7s id and outstanding accounts amount- , ing to 12s, and after paying the outstanding accounts and all expenses lor the year with the exception of £6 8s still outstanding, the bank overdraft at the close of the season had been reduced to ,£134 3s 6d. The chief receipts were members subscriptions (gents) £l\ 15s, (ladies) 8s 6d and profit from socials .£l2 us xod. The main items of expenditure were salary caretaker £32, outstanding accounts from previous year 12s, interest £9 ns 6d, rates and rent £6 14s 3d and telephone £6‘ The statement of assets and liabilities showed a balance of assets over liabilities of £3*9 7s. Correspondence was read from the Manawatu centre of the Bowlling Association asking the Foxton Club to appoint delegates to represent them at meetings of the centre, and from Mr H. Witchell offering a trophy for competition for handicap singles. The following new members were elected: Messrs Hamilton, F. Symes, Admore, Hore, Heasman, H. Strong, E. G. Alexander, W. Kirkley, Tattnell, A. Edwards and J. M. Barr. On the motion of Messrs Harvey and Petrie, rule 13 which provides for five committeemen with the president, vice-presidents and treasurer to manage the club’s affairs, with five as a quorum was altered to read: “The management of the club shall be vested in a committee composed ot the president, three vice-presidents, two committeemen and the treasurer, four to be a quorum,’’ The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— President, Mr F. Woods; vicepresidents, Messrs W. Petrie, D. Whibley and J. L. Harvey ; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. D. Whibley ; committee, Messrs J. McColl and T. Rimmer ; delegates to Manawatu centre, Messrs Dr. Mandl and J. L. Harvey. The election of ground and other sub-committees and the fixing of the opening day was left to the general committee. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Witchell tor offer of trophy tor competition. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
