“Your committee have pleasure in submitting their report and balance-sheet for the past year, and in doing so congratulate the members on the satisfactory position of the Society. Your membership now stands at 121, the highest yet reached by the Society. A trophy has been bought by the Committee for competetion in sweet peas, which it is hoped will arouse keen interest. To those who have so generously come forward with donations and trophies, and those who have given so freely ot their labour in the interests of the Society your committee desire to tender their sincere thanks, and at the same time wish to record their keen appreciation of the services rendered by your secretary. In view of the narrow margin between profit and loss on the various years’ workings, and with a view of strengthening the Society and rendering it less dependent on donations, a subcommittee was appointed during the year to go into its affairs. Their recommendations will be placed before you this evening for consideration.” The balance sheet discloses a very satisfactory position, showing a credit balance of 16s 3d. The receipts including the balance brought forward totalled 9s 2d, made up of members subscriptions ,£23 7s 6d, entrance fees £25 19s gd, door takings, tea rooms, stalls, etc ns Bd, guessing competitions £5 9s 6d, credit balance from previous year 16s tod, donations £lO Bs, and other receipts £4. 5s nd.
