The Rev D. C. Bates wires to* day as follows: — Westerly strong winds to gale and veering by west to south ; heavy rain is to be expected, with rivers rising shortly : barometer unsteady, with rising tendency shortly, and then weather will probably become colder ; sea very heavy, tides good.
