CRICKET.

The local team is well to the fore in the competition (Wednesday) for the Bevan Cup, and yesterday another win was registered, Y.M.C.A. being defeated by 32 runs. The visitors batted first, compiling 65, of which Hutton contributed 20 and Smart 13. The wickets fell as follows :—1 for 2, 2—9, 3—39. 4—39. 54 6 . 6—47, 7 —50, B—6o,8 —60, 9 —65. Tullet followed, and after seven runs were added, Clark found bis leg stump. Wilkes filled the vacancy, and runs then came fairly freely, the score being carried to 61 when Whibley was bowled.
