HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The President (Mr Witchell) presided over a well-attended committee meeting of the above society on Thursday night. The following stewards were appointed for the autumn show : Pot plants, Mrs Harvey ; cut blooms, Mrs Healey aud Misses Neylon and Signal ; fruit and vegetables, Messrs D. Whibley and J. Newth ; farm produce, cookery and home industries, Mesdames Jas, Robinson and Kempster ; decorations, Mesdames Woodward and AustiuJohnston ; door stewards, Messrs Henderson, Newth, Whibley and Kempster; supervising steward, Mr Geo. Barber ; tea room, Mesdames Henderson and Newth ; sweet stall, Mrs Woods ; competitions, Messrs Barber, Boyes and
Bullard. It was decided to appoint an assistant secretary at cos. It was resolved that the radius for competitors in the sweet pea trophy competition be altered from three to nine miles. Mr Alex. Speirs was authorised to sign cheques in the absence ol the President. It was resolved that section 61, auy other variety in cut blooms, constitute one bloom, spike or truss as the case may be, and that stewards be notified accordingly, Other routine business was transacted aud the meeting rose.
