THE BOROUGH BAND.

The Town Clerk's report read at Monday night's Council meeting contained the following paragraph in reference to the local band: “I would like to suggest to Councillors that they give the matter of taking over the local Band, and making it a real municipal Band, under the powers conferred upon it by the Act passed last session. From what I can gather this would be welcomed by a majority of the bandsmen and would be more satisfactory from many points of view. The Mayor said the suggestion was worth consideration. If the Band were converted into a municipal one, subsidised by the Council, they would have more control over it. He suggested leaving the matter over until a future meeting, and inviting the committee of the Band to be present to discuss the question with the Council. The Mayor’s suggestion was acted upon.
