THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT,
The High Commissioner cabled at noon yesterday as follows: — The hemp market remains firm. American buying continues in the Philippines, purchases to date being estimated at 100,000 bales. The London market is quiet but steady at last quotations. The output is 19,000 bales. The New Zealand market is quiet but steady, fair in dock being offered at £24 to £24 5s ; high point fair same position has sold at £25 ; forward shipment good fair £26 10s, fair £2453, Sisal market steadier; price equal to £27 to £27 10s per ton c.i.f. Europe. Stocks at end ot December 88,174 bales, against 93,904 previous year. Total exports 873,9917, against 855,366,
