RACING.
The adjhptafice's'receivsd by the local club for all events, both as regards numbers and quality, compare favoura&fy’withauy previous meeting, the total for the first day being 120 as against 121 last year, lu the chief event of the day two recent cup winners are engaged : EadyEaddo (Feildiug), and Royal Dragoon (Hokitika), and the other horses accepted have also shown good form of late. Several horses have already put in an appearance: Imarose and Wailand, trained by W. Gillelt, 1 in Blenheim, arrived in charge of the trainer some days ago, and two other Marlborough horses, Ruination and Rosemarie, trained by T. H. Gillett, have also arrived. Multitude aud Ruffi'ana, trained by G. Jones, at Hastings, are also here, and last night Trainer F. Faulkner, of Taranaki, arrived with the cup candidate, Royal Dragoon.
