HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
The local Horticultural Society’s Spring Show which is being held in the Coronation Hall this afternoon, evening and to morrow evening promises to be one ot the most successful yet held by the Society. The number of entries compares favourably with those of previous exhibitions, and the quality of the exhibits leaves nothing to be desired. The number of entries is 697, the number last year being 668 and the previous year 540.
In addition to local exhibitors entries have been received from Shannon, Koputaroa and the surrounding district. The show was officially opened this afternoon by the President, Mr H. Witchell.
This morning the members of committee and stewards were busy getting everything in order, ready for the judging. The judges in the different classes experienced considerable difficulty iu awarding the prizes, the exhibits all being of a high standard. To night and to-morrow night musical programmes will be rendered, and there will also be a number of competitions.
