The ballot for stewards resulted in all the retiring stewards being re-elected, as follows: Messrs J. R. Hynes, H G. Hammond, Dr. Mandl, H. Stunell. G. Coley, F. S. Easton and J. Burr. The following new members were elected: Messrs F. H. Meyer, H. Oben, Frank Robinson junr., A. J. Mahon, and C. J. KentJohnston. Special mention was made of the excellent services rendered the Club by the retiring secretary, Mr W. F. Gray, who had done good work first as a steward, and for the past two years as secretary. The President and Treasurer referred in glowing terms to Mr Gray’s excellent work, saying that it was largely due to his efforts that the Club occupied the position it did- The members unanimously resolved that the Club’s appreciation ol Mr Gray’s services be recorded on the minutes, and that he be elected a life member.

In replying, Mr Gray thanked the members for the kindly feeling expressed, but said that the success which had attended his efforts had been in a very large measure due to the splendid assistance he had received from his stewards, who had all worked well in the interests of the Club. He said the Club was particularly fortunate in having a really splendid set of officers. MEETING OF STEWARDS. The first meeting of the newly elected stewards was held at the conclusion of the annual meeting, all being present except Messrs Easton and Barber. Four applications were received for the position of secretary, and after discussion Mr Endell Wanklyn was appointed to the position. A jockey’s license was issued to Eric Abbott, and the meeting then rose. THE NEW SECRETAKV. The newly-appointed secretary, Mr Endell Wanklyn, has been connected with the office work of the Club for many years past, having acted as assistant during the time Mr Angus Keith held the position of secretary, and also during Mr Gray’s time, and has consequently a splendid grip of the work and an excellent knowledge of racing matters, and should make an ideal officer.
