PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The Tiakitahuna Presbyterian Sabbath School held its anniversary functions on last Sunday and

Monday, and all the gatherings in connection therewith provelir- a great success. Mr R. H. Billens conducted the service in the afternoon, and delighted the little ones ~ with his happy manner and address, so that they want him to come back again, and to come soon. The evening service was also largely attended, when the minister, Rev J. M. Thomson, M.A., gave a very impressive ad-* dress to the congregation on our \ obligations and debt to the little ones. The social function on Monday evening reached high- 1 water mark in every respect. The attendance was exceptionally large, the collection on behalf of the Sabbath School funds easily - the best yet contributed, and the programme was every whit worthy of the success scored. The Misses ' Voss were mainly responsible for the training of the children, and f deserve the highest credit for manner in which the little oiQ acquitted themselves. “Baby Bunting” was charmingly represented and sung by the two little McDonalds, and Miss Laura Neilson gave her arithmetical problems very prettily and pointedly. Miss Ethel McCully rendered her somewhat difficult song in a surprisingly sweet and artistic manner, tone, enunciation and production all reflecting great credit on her teacher. The concerted pieces of the children were all excellent, the choicest perhaps being the little mothers’ crooning song to their baby dolls. The Rev J, M. Thomson gave proof of his ability in addressing children by ' holding their close attention, particularly thd boys, while he discoursed on “Pockets.” Miss M. Voss and Miss Farmer acted as accompanists. The superintendents of the Sabbath School, Mr H. D. McCully and Mr Rochel, and ' the staff, are to be congratulated on the success of the function.
