£lO WANTED.
FOR THE STATE SCHOOLLIBRARY. A SPLENDID RESPONSE SO FAR. In our last issue we made an appeal for /,To for the purpose ot augmenting the State School library and earning the Education Department’s £ for £ subsidy. It should be unnecessary for us to reiterate the educational advantages to the scholars which a carefully selected library provides. There is nothing like wholesome reading to enlighten our children’s minds and broadening their intellects. The reading ot a good book at home in the evening should prove of more lasting benefit to the children than the counter attraction of the street corner. The following gentlemen have kindly responded to our appeal:— £ s d Mr Alf. Fraser ... i i o Dr Mandl i i o Mr J. Chrystall ... 10 o A friend of the kiddies 10 o A Pearson 10 o Mr W. Nye ... 5 0 Mr Gabites, seur. 5 0 M.P 50
Further contributions will be thankfully received by Mr Gabites, first assistant at the school, who is the moving spirit in the matter, or may be left at this office.
