FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held in Palmerston on Tuesday. All members were present. It was decided to proceed with the Bill for authority to borrow for the purchase of the present wharf or build a new one, and to- amend it to read “ for purchase of present wharf, for providing necessary buildings, and reserving portion of present wharf or for building a new wharf and necessary accommodation for same.”

It was decided to cut out that portion of the Horowhenua County, bring the township of Shannon A motion was moved and seconded to cut out Feilding, but was lost, only the mover and seconder voting for it. The Bill provides for interest and sinking fund being a first charge on all rents, tolls, dues and other income of the Board. If not sufficient, assessments are to be made annually by Commission on the counties and boroughs in the district.

Messrs Hennessy and Nash were-appointed to attend the conference of the Harbour Boards Association in Wellington, with Mr, Gardener in the event of either bein g unable to attend.
