THE STATE SCHOOL.

Pauknts will be pleased to know that the local State school has been raised a grade as a result of the increased average attendance during last year. The higher grade includes extra and higher grade subordinate teachers. We hope the school will show a further increase in attendance this year. The roll number on the opening day last year was 3x3 and the actual attendance was 287. The first day this year the roll number stood at 357 and the attendance was 332 —an excellent start. Twenty-four new pupils have been admitted and 17 pupils have left.
